Practiced yoga on the soccer field with seven other people after school today. Que divertido! Thank you Dave Farmar podcasts! Mountains as backdrop and perfectly scattered clouds complete the scene.

Still, after two and a half weeks, I get a bit more winded than I would at sea-level. I have grand ideas of being able to run a half marathon with ease when I return to the States. We’ll see…

My friend wants me to climb Cotopaxi with him this weekend- it’s the highest active volcano in the world. Apparently the quoted price for our guides/transportation/food/equipment is a deal. I don’t feel totally secure in my ability to tackle the Day 2 climb, which would start at 2am and take seven hours, más o menos. My host dad was warning me that the altitude is really difficult, my host mom was encouraging me to go and said it’s the safest mountain to climb for a first try and students do it all the time. Hmmm… when in Ecuador, climb mountains? Is that how the saying goes? …I’m going to sleep on it.

Sumak Kausay! (Buen vivir!)
